A River Shoot with Fouseks

April 16, 2020 By John Menneer Leave a Comment

The typical Cesky Fousek loves water. They are at their best when they are in the thick of the action as in this video. There is something delightful and stirring about floating down a river and trying to beat duck at their own game.

As you quietly drift, the excitement mounts as you approach good cover – the dogs tension builds and they focus intently on the thicket, eagerly waiting the eruption of birds. Once the prey is down, the dogs quickly bail for the water and retrieve the game. During the long straights they stare up at the high birds wondering why their hunting mate isn’t blasting away.  Every so often they will point cripples hiding at the waters edge or a duck sitting tight: chances otherwise missed if it were not for the indicate of a cesky fousek. All in a good day on the water!
