A Tribute to Koha

January 31, 2025 By John Menneer 2 Comments

A sad day yesterday (30 January 2025) saying goodbye to a great hunting companion and family pooch, our beloved Cesky Fousek, Koha, who was diagnosed with a large cancerous bone tumour. Koha, who would have been 12 years this August, was a great companion, a great hunting dog, and had a wonderful loyal, calm and biddable temperament. She had 3 litters of pups (M, N, and S litters) over the course of her life, which many of you now own and enjoy. Koha was a lovely dog with a very relaxed temperament and a keen hunter.

When Koha was 20 months old (April 2015) she won the novice class of the Waikato Gun Dog Club Rough Shooters Trial. Later that year she went on to acheive a Prize I score in the Intermediate Hunting Dog Test held by the New Zealand Versatile Hunting Dog Testing Association (NZVHDTA). Koha’s category scores in that test are one of the best that our dogs have achieved, with her retrieving and searching earning her an honorary notation. We will miss her. I’ve posted a few pictures of her below.
